ACROSS

ACROSS (Auto Configurable RObots for Social Services) aims to incorporate robotic services into social scenarios allowing them to anticipate to user needs by improving communication and empathy between people and embodied agents.

Singular Strategic Scientific-Technological Projects consist of «a group of research, development and innovation (R&D) activities intended to enhance the scientific and technological integration of agents and boost technology transfer, contributing to improve the technological capacity of enterprises«.

ACROSS is a Singular Strategic Scientific-Technological Project funded by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade as part of the Spanish government´s Plan Avanza initiative.

What is ACROSS?

ACROSS will carry out research and development activities in the field of Robotics and Cognitive Computing over an execution time-frame from 2009 to 2011.

ACROSS modifies the design of social robotics, blocked in providing predefined services, going further by means of intelligent systems. These systems are able to self-reconfigure and modify their behavior autonomously through the capacity for understanding, learning and software remote access.

ACROSS provides an Open-Source development community to exploit different technological advances, some of them initially unconnected with Robotics. Taking advantage of this synergy, ACROSS will be the starting point from which new standards in robot applications will be built.

ACROSS will validate technological results in three applications:

• Autonomous Living.
• Psycho-Affective Disorders ( autism ).
• Marketing.

ACROSS consortium is managed by Treelogic and composed by 13 multidisciplinary entities (6 enterprises, 3 universities, 2 research centres and 2 hospitals).
