About Us

Robolab is formed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers and professionals committed to the advancement of intelligent robotics and its applications in real environments. The group is led by Dra. Pilar Bachiller, Professor of the Department of Computer and Communications Technology of the University of Extremadura.

This group combines expertise in computer science, telecommunications, medicine and architecture to address current challenges in robotics from a holistic and applied perspective.

Lines of Research

1. Advanced development of cognitive architectures for robots.
Improved CORTEX architecture, integrating symbolic and geometric information so that robots can collaborate effectively with humans in healthcare and assistance environments.
2. Innovation in social and assistance robotics
Development of robots capable of emotionally interacting with people, implementing social and affective navigation in senior centers and hospitals.
3. Application of Deep Learning in medicine
Application of deep learning techniques to the analysis of medical images to facilitate early diagnosis of diseases such as breast cancer.
4. Educational robotics and emerging technologies for education
Expansion of the LearnBlock platform and its implementation in educational centers to promote the learning of programming and robotics from an early age.
5. Energy efficiency in buildings and smart cities
Development of intelligent systems for monitoring and predicting energy consumption in buildings to optimize the use of resources.
6. Sustainable territorial development and urban rehabilitation
Research in urban and rural rehabilitation applying sustainability and circular economy criteria, with direct impact on local quality of life.

Our Projects

At Robolab we develop innovative projects that combine robotics, artificial intelligence and sustainability, collaborating with public institutions, research centers and companies to transfer knowledge and generate useful, accessible and responsible technological solutions.
