Tech4EfficiencyEDIH (Tech4E) is a European digital innovation project that acts as a reference center for the digital transformation of companies in Extremadura. It is part of the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH), within the European Union's DIGITAL Europe program, and its main mission is to serve as a meeting point between technology and Extremadura's business fabric. With a duration of 36 months, the project began on September 1, 2022 and will end on August 31, 2025.

The initiative is coordinated by the FUNDECYT-PCTEX Foundation and counts with the participation of eleven key entities in the region, including the University of Extremadura, the provincial councils of Cáceres and Badajoz, the COMPUTAEX Foundation, CICYTEX, chambers of commerce, clusters and technology business associations. This multidisciplinary consortium works in a coordinated way to offer regional SMEs advanced solutions in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, high performance computing and digital sustainability, in line with the objectives of the European Green Pact and the digital and industrial transition promoted by the EU.

The Tech4E project is based on four fundamental thematic pillars: efficiency, ecology, equity and economy. Under this structure, specific advisory, training, technological experimentation and financing support services are designed and implemented. Special emphasis is placed on the development of digital solutions applied to key sectors such as energy, agri-food, manufacturing and natural resource management, among others. The project's approach allows not only to improve business competitiveness, but also to promote a more sustainable, inclusive and cohesive development for the Extremadura region.

Tech4E functions as a one-stop-shop for access to digitization, where companies can find everything from customized diagnostics and training to technical assistance and funding for their digital transformation processes. At the international level, the project is connected to networks such as DIHNET, SmartAgriHubs, DigitaliseSME and the Enterprise Europe Network, thus strengthening its impact and cross-border cooperation.

The project is 50% co-financed by the European Union's DIGITAL Europe program, and 50% by national funds from the NextGenerationEU plan managed by the Government of Spain, with a total budget of €4,281,112.80. In the first two years of the project, this funding comes from the European recovery funds managed at the national level. In the third year, additional funding is assumed by the Regional Government of Extremadura and the Provincial Councils of Cáceres and Badajoz through ERDF funds, thus ensuring the continuity of support for business digitalization in the region.
