Convenio de colaboración para la creación de la cátedra de patrocinio "Cátedra UEx-Pitarch Grupo Empresarial-Oeste en soluciones digitales para el entorno rural"
The Cátedra UEx–Pitarch Grupo Empresarial en Soluciones Digitales para el Entorno Rural is a joint initiative between the University of Extremadura and the Pitarch Group, through its technology brand Oeste. The main objective of this public-private partnership is to promote digital transformation in rural areas of Extremadura, addressing challenges such as connectivity, access to digital services and the promotion of technological vocations among young people.
The chair is held at the Polytechnic School of Cáceres and is directed by Professor Pedro Núñez Trujillo, who leads a multidisciplinary team of researchers. Its focus is on the application of emerging technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence, Drones and Robotics, adapting them to the specific needs of the rural environment.
The chair's lines of action include:
Education and training: design of academic programs, workshops and seminars aimed at students, faculty and rural residents, with the objective of training in new technologies and fostering vocations in STEAM areas.
Research and development: identification of rural challenges and development of innovation projects in telecommunications and solar energy, in collaboration with researchers and through doctoral theses.
Dissemination and diffusion: organization of forums, conferences and creation of digital platforms to share knowledge and advances in the field of rural digitalization.
Applications and pilots: implementation of pilot projects in selected communities to demonstrate the viability and impact of the proposed digital solutions, ensuring their environmental and social sustainability.
The chair also promotes the development of Bachelor's and Master's Degree Final Projects (TFG/TFM) related to its lines of action, offering incentives for the best projects.
