FEENERT: Fomento de la eficiencia energética en edificios públicos de arquitectura tradicional en el entorno transfronterizo
FEENERT is a cross-border cooperation project between Spain and Portugal, under the Interreg POCTEP (EUROACE)program, which promotes the sustainable energy rehabilitation of traditional public buildings located in rural environments. Its purpose is to enhance the value of this architectural heritage through interventions that respect its cultural identity and are committed to the principles of circular economy, energy efficiency and construction quality.
The project focuses on analyzing the energy and microclimatic performance of traditional buildings in the EUROACE territory, in order to develop practical tools such as intervention protocols, catalogs of materials and local solutions, a BIM library and technical guides to facilitate decision-making by technicians, administrations and companies. FEENERT also seeks to strengthen the local professional fabric, encouraging the participation of SMEs, artisans, construction professionals and public entities, thus promoting innovation, rural employment and generational change in the sector.
Through a demonstrative approach, the project will validate methodologies in several real pilot cases, establishing intervention criteria adapted to the heritage and climatic context of the region. In addition, communication and knowledge transfer activities are aimed at ensuring the replicability of the results at local, national and European level.
FEENERT is coordinated by the INTROMAC Technological Institute and has the participation of nine partners, including the University of Extremadura (UEx), the Extremadura Energy Agency (AGENEX), the General Secretariat for Housing of the Regional Government of Extremadura, the University of Évora, LNEG (National Energy and Geology Laboratory), AREANATejo and the Municipal Chamber of Elvas, among others. Thanks to this multidisciplinary cooperation, the project integrates research, technology, sustainability and heritage valorization as tools to build a more efficient, inclusive and resilient future.
The FEENERT project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal Program (POCTEP) 2021-2027, within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This cross-border cooperation initiative aims to promote sustainable, inclusive and digital growth in the border regions of Spain and Portugal, strengthening territorial cohesion and social innovation in the field of social and health care.
