RE-LIVESTOCK is a European research and innovation project that seeks to transform current livestock systems into more sustainable, resilient and climate-smart models. Over five years, the consortium will work on implementing solutions that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while improving the efficiency, profitability and social sustainability of livestock farms in Europe and beyond.

RE-LIVESTOCK aims to promote the real and effective adoption of innovative livestock practices that contribute to climate change mitigation without compromising economic viability and animal welfare. In addition to promoting the use of technological tools and more sustainable management strategies, the project aims to generate useful and applicable scientific knowledge, establish co-creation models with end users and facilitate the exchange of experiences between regions and sectors. In this way, it seeks to strengthen the resilience of the European livestock system in a context of increasing environmental, regulatory and social pressure.

With a consortium of more than 30 partners from 14 European countries and Australia, RE-LIVESTOCK takes a clearly international and collaborative approach. This geographical and sectoral diversity allows solutions to be adapted to different productive, climatic and socio-economic realities. The cooperation between centers of excellence, universities, producer associations and governmental organizations ensures a balanced approach between advanced research and practical application in the field.
